Terms of Service

Version 2.0 · Effective 29 August 2026 · Updated 29 August 2026

Using Trace

Trace is a code-reading game. You may use it for personal learning and entertainment in accordance with these Terms and applicable law. Guest play is tied to an installation. Authenticated accounts use Google or email and password sign-in through Supabase Auth.

Your public username, display name, and avatar may be shown in future player-facing features. Keep your account credentials secure and provide accurate information when creating or updating your account.

Fair play and acceptable use

Do not automate answers, manipulate clocks or requests, probe credentials, interfere with the service, bypass access controls, exploit bugs, reverse engineer protected service components, impersonate others, or use Trace unlawfully. Do not use usernames or profile content that is abusive, deceptive, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate.

Runs, Ghosts, and progression

Practice and Ghost runs are game features, not live multiplayer. Ghost replays the same eligible Practice questions and recorded timing milestones from a prior run. XP, levels, streaks, puzzle selection, internal rating, and other progression systems may change as Trace evolves. They have no cash value, are not property, and do not create a right to a particular result, rank, or availability.

Trace Plus and subscriptions

Trace Plus may be offered through Google Play. Available plans, billing periods, localized prices, trials, and other offer terms are shown in Google Play at purchase time. Do not rely on a price or billing period not shown in the purchase flow.

Subscriptions may renew automatically unless you cancel them through Google Play before the applicable renewal date. You can manage or cancel a Google Play subscription in your Google Play account. Uninstalling Trace or deleting a Trace account does not itself cancel a Google Play subscription.

Service and content changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue Trace features, content, availability, or eligibility, including Practice, Ghost, progression, and Trace Plus features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, permanent Guest progress, prizes, or a particular feature set.

Ownership

Trace, its interface, puzzle systems, and original content are owned by the service operator or licensors. Python and third-party software remain subject to their respective licenses. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use Trace.

Suspension, termination, and deletion

We may suspend or terminate access for material abuse, security risks, or violations of these Terms. You may stop using Trace at any time and may request account/data deletion through the dedicated Delete account flow. Subscription cancellation remains your responsibility through Google Play.

Disclaimers and liability

Trace is provided as available and without warranties to the extent permitted by applicable law. It is a game and not professional advice. Any liability limitations apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law; nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as Trace changes. The current version and effective date appear in the app and on the canonical online Terms. Use Contact Trace for service questions or the dedicated Delete account flow for account-deletion requests.
